Choose your photo(s) making sure the subject’s personality is captured and that it is a true likeness. The better the photo, the better the finished work will be. Please see ‘Photos’ for guidance on this.

Contact me to discuss your commission and any deadline requirement.

On receipt of your photos I will contact you to confirm the price and expected completion date – usually 2-3 weeks after the photos and deposit have been received, though it can be longer around Christmas time so please order well in advance if there is a deadline to work to.

If you are happy to proceed with the commission, send me a £20 non-refundable deposit.

On completion I will e-mail a copy of your painting for your approval. If you are satisfied with this, send me the balance due and I will forward your painting on its receipt. There can be no refunds once I have posted the painting, so please ensure you are completely happy with the e-mailed copy.

I retain copyright on all my artwork. Images are commissioned for your personal use only and may not be used for financial gain without my prior written permission.

I may use an image of your purchased painting for advertising or place it on my web gallery unless you request me not to do so. However, your permission will be sought first.

For pet portraits

Ultimately, I work from just one photo (though it can be useful to have more),
so the chosen photo has to be a good one. The photo should be:

  1. - in focus and in colour – so all the subject’s features are clear
  1. - taken close up – the subject should fill the frame
  1. - taken on the same level as the subject
  1. - taken in natural light where possible. Flash can obscure eye and coat colour.

For caricatures

I will need several photos of each subject to be depicted. These should include
one ‘face on’ and one ‘three-quarter angle’. These both need to be in focus, in
colour, taken close up and, preferably, show the subject smiling.

A full-length photo would also be useful.
